    Remote Transmission via the Internet

    Measuring points for groundwater or water level monitoring are often located in remote or hard-to-reach areas, such as in the open countryside or near open bodies of water. KELLER Pressure offers both water level loggers with short-range wireless interfaces and remote transmission systems for IoT networks such as LoRaWAN, NB-IoT or GSM.

    Measured values can be recorded, visualised, and efficiently managed through the «PressureSuite Cloud» web app, which also provides extensive configuration options for your devices.

    HYDROSTATIC MEASUREMENTS

    The most common form of electrical level measurement in industrial applications is hydrostatic pressure measurement.

    Hydrostatic pressure is the pressure exerted within a stationary fluid or gas as a result of gravitational force. The weight of the fluid acts on the lower layers beneath it, due to its own mass. Neither the type of medium nor whether the fluid is in motion plays a role here. Dynamic pressure due to flow is not recorded.

    Hydrostatic pressure can be measured in an open or free container, body of water or closed tank subject to positive or negative pressure.  In each case, ambient pressure is factored in when determining the actual fill level. For closed containers, the pressure of the gas enclosed above the liquid must also be accounted for. This is done by means of an additional pressure measurement with a second transmitter, typically screwed into the side of the tank.

    The following formula can be used to calculate the hydrostatic pressure while factoring in ambient pressure: p(h, po) = ρ x g x h + po
